There are a lot of different types of houses. For example, the Inuit live in igloos and some people in Granada live in caves. In Britain you can also find several types of houses. Do you want to know them? Then listen to the following video:

3. Reading: Alice in Wonderland

Do you know whose house this is? Who is inside?

Exactly! It's the White Rabbit's house and the big girl inside is no other than Alice from Alice in Wonderland. Today we are going to read two short extracts from this story written by Lewis Carroll in 1865. That is a long time ago!

So, what character was your favourite? Make up your mind  because we are going to  act out a short version of the story in groups of ten. Click here to get the transcript. 4. Writing: Unusual Hotels

As we have seen there are lots of different types of houses and the same happens with hotels. Today we are learning about some of the most unusual ones. Do you know any?

Well, first we will listen to the description of three very interesting and different hotels and we will answer the following questions: where are they?, what did they use to be? and how much do they cost? Ready, steady, go!

Which one would you like to stay? All? None? Here you have some other examples in case none of the previous ones were your cup of tea.

Now it's your turn to let your imagination fly and build your own unusual hotel. You can use all the information above as inspiration or you can surf the Internet for ideas. Once you have made up your mind answer these questions:

• Where is it?
• Why is it unusual?
• How is it? Is it big or small? How many rooms does it have? What colour is it?
• How much does it cost? Is it cheap or expensive?
• Why should people stay there? What can they do?

Come to Costa Verde! Our fantastic hotel is in Costa Rica next to a tropical beach. It used to be an airplane. There is only one room so it is very small. It is very expensive because it costs two hundred and fifty dollars a night. However, it is worthwhile. The weather is great and you can go to the beach and sunbathe every day. You can go fishing or scuba diving too. You are all invited.

5. Integrated Skills: Let's sing together!

Have you ever heard this song? Its title is "Our House" and it was sung by an English ska band called Madness in the 80s. We are going to listen to it and write down some words that are missing from the lyrics. Please click here and follow the instructions.

Now, read the lyrics again and answer the questions below. You can look up any word you don't understand here.

4. Who does the housework in their house? 
5. Who are they going to miss?
6. Was their house a happy place?

Is your house similar to the one in the song? Who does the housework in your home? Do you help? How? Do you think it is fair that only one person does all the housework? Would you like to be that person? In pairs talk about this for a couple of minutes and then write your answers on the form below.
